Rainbow Connection
Paul Hamilton Williams, Kenny Ascher
Intro chords C-F,C-F,C-F,C-F,
(C) Why are there (Am7) so many (F) songs about (G) rainbows
And (C) what's on the (Am7) other (F) side?
(C) Rainbows are (Am7) visions, but (F) only (G) illusions
And (C) rainbows have (Am7) nothing to (F) hide
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
(Em) I know they're wrong, wait and see
(F) Someday we'll (G) find it, the (Em) rainbow con(Am7)nection
The (F) lovers, the (G) dreamers and (C) me C-F,C-F,
(C) Who said that (Am) every wish would (F) be heard and (G) answered?
When (C) wished on the (Am7) morning (F) star
(C) Somebody (Am7) thought of that, and (F) someone (G) believed it
(C) Look what it's (Am7) done so (F) far
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And (Em) what do we think we might see?
(F) Someday we'll (G) find it, the (Em) rainbow con(Am7)nection
The (F) lovers, the (G) dreamers, and (C) me
(G) All of us (Am7) under it's (G) spell
We (F) know that it's (Em) probably (G)magic (D#dim7)*
(C) Have you been (Am7) half asleep, and (F) have you heard (G) voices?
(C) I've heard them (Am7) calling my (F) name
(C) Is this the (Am7) sweet sound that (F) calls the young (G) sailors?
The (C) voice might be (Am7) one and the (F) same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's (Em) something that I'm supposed to be
(F) Someday we'll (G) find it, the (Em) rainbow (Am7) connection
The (F) lovers, the (G) dreamers and (C) me
(G) La-da-da, (Am) de-da-da-(G) doo
(F) La-da-da-da (G)-da-de-da-(C) doo
And (C) what's on the (Am7) other (F) side?

Notes:
The Muppet recording with Kermit is in the key of A. To play along with Kermit you would need to capo at the 9th fret which is odd but kinda cool. C works better for some voices and lends itself to finger picking out the melody if you want to do that. Capo wherever you voice feels comfortable. Enjoy!
*this part is tricky. Kermit the Frog changes key and moves everything up a half step or 1 fret. To do this we need a few more chords or capo up 1 fret. We kept it all in the same key here. We'll do a video to explain better. A D#dim7 chord might not be a perfect solution but works well enough for singing with kids.
